Alice E. Clark, 89, of Monmouth, IL, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2026, at OSF Holy Family Medical Center, Monmouth.  

She was born July 6, 1936, in Monmouth, the daughter of Victor and Irene (Murphy) Cokel. She was raised and educated in Monmouth, attending Immaculate Conception School and St. Mary Academy, Nauvoo, IL, graduating in 1954.

Alice married William H. Clark on October 29, 1955, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Monmouth, IL, and he passed away on March 23, 2025.

Alice was a homemaker and a bookkeeper. She worked for Cokel’s Welding Shop and the Warren County Library as an accountant/bookkeeper.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Immaculate Conception Bereavement Committee, Altar & Rosary Society, Eucharistic Minister, Cursillo, Teens Encounter Christ “TEC”, and an active volunteer with her church and Right to Life. Alice actively/positively supported Will’s ministry as a deacon within the church.  She was also a voting judge, Brownie Scout leader, and a room mother.

Survivors include her daughters, Antoniette (John) Eckley, Stephanie Clark, Victoria (Andy) Jackson, and Josephine Clark; son, Christopher Clark; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; her brother, Jerry (Bonnie) Cokel; sister-in-law, Julia Cokel; brother-in-law, Max Leezer; lots of nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, John Edward Clark, Anthony William Clark, and Randall Paul Clark; one brother, Robert Cokel; her sister, Barbara Leezer; and her in-laws, Lyle and Helen Clark.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am, Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.  Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Monmouth. Cremation rites have been accorded. Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 am, Saturday morning at the church with a Rosary service beginning at 10:30 a.m. Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, ICS, or Immaculate Conception Church and sent to the funeral home. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory are in charge of the arrangements.
