Mark D. Carns, 65, of Galesburg, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 13, 2026, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center.

Mark was born January 18, 1961, in Galesburg, Illinois, the son of Jack and Betty (Zendel) Carns. He was raised and educated in Galesburg and graduated from Galesburg High School, where he built lifelong friendships and memories.

Mark is survived by his father, Jack (Clair) Carns of Galesburg; his children, Dustin Carns of Galesburg, Tommy Giron of Charleston, Illinois, Lynsey Glass, Madeline (Jordan) Mack, Kelsey Carns, and Emily Carns, all of Galesburg; his brother, Greg (Michelle) Carns of Galesburg; his sister, Melinda (Todd) Hull of Effingham, Illinois; and his fourteen cherished grandchildren, who were truly the light of his life. He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Carns Anderson.

Mark dedicated many years of his life to his work. He was employed at Northgate Lanes, where he worked as a technician for over a decade. Mark genuinely enjoyed his time at the bowling alley, where he formed friendships and took pride in his work. He later found a second home working in maintenance at the Hampton Inn in Billings, Montana, for eight years.

An outdoorsman at heart, Mark found great joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved baseball, hunting, and fishing, and was happiest when surrounded by nature. Above all else, Mark treasured the time he spent with his family. His grandchildren held a special place in his heart, and he embraced every moment he could share with them, creating memories that will be deeply cherished.

Cremation will be accorded. A Celebration of Mark’s Life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to his family. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services, Galesburg Chapel. Online Condolences may be offered at www.h-p-w.com
