Luella M. Wilson, 84, of Monmouth, IL, passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Peru, IL.
She was born on January 10, 1942, in Monmouth, IL, the daughter of Vernon Leroy and Lucy Mae (Shultz) Hathaway. Luella was raised and educated in Monmouth and attended Monmouth High School.
Luella married John Wilson, and they later divorced. She later found companionship and happiness with her significant other, Darrell Ford, who preceded her in death.
Luella dedicated many years to hard work throughout her life. She began her career at Smoler Form Fit as a seamstress. She later worked in housekeeping at Meling’s Motel, and eventually at Wilson Foods in Monmouth, where she provided housekeeping services for the office facilities.
In her free time, Luella enjoyed a variety of hobbies that reflected both her creativity and playful spirit. She loved crocheting and knitting and could often be found working on puzzles of every kind. She also enjoyed playing video games, especially Pokémon, which brought her much joy and entertainment. Luella cherished spending time outdoors, tending to her flowers and gardens.
Surviving Luella is her son, Wayne Wilson of Peoria, IL; her siblings, Verna Toops of Monmouth, IL, Barb Parish of Jacksonville, FL, Vicky (Sam) Craig of Burlington, IA, Jim Hathaway of Jacksonville, FL, and Diana (Brian) Culver of Jacksonville, FL. Numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and extended family members, Randy and Nathan Davis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her significant other, Darrell Ford; two brothers, Howard Hathaway and Merlon Hathaway; one sister, Bessie (Hathaway) Tiffy; brother-in-law, Tom Toops; and great-niece, KaLee Pringle.Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 15, 2026, at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Monmouth Cemetery.
