Mr. Jonathan N. “Jon” Lamica, 41, of Mt. Vernon, Washington, died unexpectedly at 2:21 p.m. Sunday, June 14, 2026, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg, Illinois, while visiting family.
He was born on March 14, 1985, in Portsmouth, Virginia, to Frederick L. and Peggy J. (Franklin) Lamica. He married Brittany McKinney on January 26, 2013, in Mt. Vernon, Washington.
Surviving are his wife, Brittany Lamica of Mt. Vernon; his children, Maddox Lamica, Selah Lamica, and Tenley Lamica, all at home; his mother and stepfather, Peggy and Shawn Ware of Galesburg; his father, Fred Lamica of New York; one half-brother, Tyler Eppley of Mt. Vernon; two half-sisters, Hannah Lamica and Sophie Lamica, both of New York; and an uncle and aunt with whom he was especially close, Steve and Sue Franklin of Abingdon, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Audrey Franklin.
Jon graduated from Burlington-Edison High School in Burlington, Washington, in 2003. He worked as a fitness and CrossFit trainer for several years before beginning his apprenticeship as an electrician. He was an active member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon and was also a member of the local electrical union in Washington.
Jon was an avid sports fan, especially of the Dallas Cowboys. He also enjoyed collecting and trading sports cards and Pokémon cards. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
Cremation will be accorded. A private memorial service will be held at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Abingdon Chapel. Mr. Terry Ware will officiate. Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be shared at h-p-w.com.
