There’s something about a summer evening at the farmers market: the smell of fresh produce, the buzz of local vendors, and neighbors coming together in the heart of the community.
This was on full display Monday as the Stronghurst Farmers Market kicked off its fifth season on Broadway Street. For those interested in becoming a vendor, organizers say the process is simple. Peyton Steck, a member of the Stronghurst Boosters Club, says prospective vendors can find an application online.
“It is super easy to become a vendor at our farmers market. You can go to our Facebook page, where a link takes you to a website with forms that you can fill out to become a vendor,” says Steck. “You have to provide proof of insurance. Basically, you just call your insurance agent and say, ‘Hey, I need proof of my homeowner’s insurance. I’m planning on being a vendor at the Stronghurst Farmers Market,’ and they’ll email that copy to you. If you are selling food, such as baked goods, you usually have to show your license and other documentation from the health department.”
The Stronghurst Farmers Market will take place every other Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. from June through August.
