Monmouth-Roseville @ Erie-Prophetstown
The Monmouth-Roseville Titans are coming off their second quarterfinal playoff appearance in school history last fall. The Titans went (10-2), posting their first double-digit win total since the consolidation in 2005. Monmouth-Roseville also extended their school-record playoff streak to five and have qualified for the playoffs in six of the past eight seasons. This year, the Titans will have to replace a plethora of talent from the deep run of 2025, including the 1800 yard and 25 touchdown rusher Nick Huston. High football IQ quarterback Clay Casteel and the entire starting offensive line has also graduated from last year’s squad. The cupboard is not completely bare, however, with 1200 yard and 20 touchdown running back Landon Montroy and fellow senior Lars Bergren coming back to anchor the ground game. Junior Kane Johnson will take over the quarterback duties for the run-heavy Titans.
Head coach Jeremy Adolphson is in his 16th season leading Monmouth-Roseville and starting his 25th season overall as a head coach. He says the doubts around being able to replace so many starters on both sides of the ball, is a challenge that this year’s team is looking forward to meeting.
The Titans travel to Prophetstown to take on the Erie-Prophetstown Panthers for week one. E-P was also a playoff qualifier last season, ending (6-4). The Panthers have several starters returning in 2026, including 2nd team all-conference running back Tristan Hovey and two 1st team all-conference offensive linemen.
United Red Storm football team has been absent from the playoffs since 2021. The Red Storm went (1-8) in 2025 with a very young roster, especially at the skill position spots. However, there is a little buzz around the football program with plenty of experience returning in 2026. Hopefully learning from the struggles of last season, those same skill players will be back to lead the United offense in 2026, including senior quarterback Kellen Boone. Boone showed strong leadership in his first season at the position and also had great production, throwing for nearly 1000 yards and rushing for another 400 behind a young, raw offensive line. Also back is leading rusher, Chance Stewart. The senior rushed for 500 yards and seven touchdowns in his junior year. United will face off against a very similar Bureau Valley Storm ballclub in their opener tonight. Bureau Valley was also (1-8) last season in the first year of Hall of Fame coach Pat Elder’s first year at the school. Also, similarly, BV returns a plethora of talent themselves.
Red Storm head coach Andrew Goodwin, in his 3rd year at United, says that his team has some confidence heading into the new season but will have an also hungry Bureau Valley team on the other side of the field.
Again, kickoff for both Monmouth-Roseville vs. Erie-Prophetstown and United vs. Bureau Valley is set for 7:00 with the pregame shows at 6:30.
