Dixie Dawne Mahnesmith, 83, of Galesburg, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 2:22 a.m. Thursday, September 3, 2026, at the Knox County Nursing Home.
She was born June 28, 1943, in Galesburg, the daughter of Kenneth and Mavis Dawne (Ennis) Hiatt. She married the love of her life, Kenneth Lee Mahnesmith Sr., on March 19, 1958, in Burlington, Iowa. He preceded her in death on June 27, 2023, after more than 65 years of marriage.
She is survived by son, Kenny Lee (Angela) Mahnesmith Jr. of Galesburg; three grandchildren, Natasha (Alex) Courtney, Tiffany (the late Dave) Riley, and Anastasia Stoneking; eight great grandchildren, Natalie, Adriana, Naomi, Josiah, Isabella, Benjamin, Evan, and Jeremiah; and a sister, Ramona Wilmot Tessier. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Bill Hiatt and Bob Hiatt; and a sister, Phyllis Olin.
Dixie was raised and educated in Galesburg. She was a faithful servant and devoted member of the First Apostolic Tabernacle. Dixie enjoyed reading her Bible, listening to Country Gospel music, spending time with her family, and collecting Precious Moments figurines. She also enjoyed playing board games with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the First Apostolic Tabernacle, 562 W. North St., Galesburg. Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Joel Aldrich officiating. Burial will be with Kenneth in East Linwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Apostolic Tabernacle.
