Dora E. Armstrong, 91, of Monmouth, IL, passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at OSF Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth.
She was born April 30, 1935, in Berwick, IL, the daughter of Marshall Weir and Lena E. (Lewis) Giddings. She was raised and educated in Berwick and Monmouth, graduating from Monmouth High School in 1953.
Dora married Dean Armstrong on July 25, 1954 at the First Christian Church, Monmouth, they later divorced.
Dora was a school bus driver for the Yorkwood School District, and later United School District for over 40 years. She drove the bus for most of her career; and later drove the school’s minivan up until her retirement. She had helped on the farm in her younger years, once her son started his own farm, Dora came back into the farm life to drive grain trucks.
She was involved in a card club, who met once a month and was hosted at different homes. Dora was a part of the Little York Farmerettes. She loved spending time with her family, but her grandbabies were her world.
Survivors include her children, Rick Armstrong of Little York, IL and Sandy (Tom) Galusha of Rural Monmouth, IL; grandchildren, Amy Burton of Iowa, Jennifer Armstrong of Michigan, Katy (Cody) Lucas of Oklahoma, Brandon (Lindsey) Galusha of Little York, IL, Michael Galusha of Galesburg, IL; great grandchildren, Jacob and Kora Galusha of Little York, Chelsea (Cody) Nute of Peoria, IL, Sebastion, Seth and Sam Demoss of Michigan, Dillon and Taya Lucas of Oklahoma; great great grandchildren, Bryleigh, Charlie, Emmerson Nute all of Peoria, IL; several nieces and nephews also survive.
She was proceeded in death by her parents; brother Marshall “Louis” Giddings; and sister, Jeanette F. Koch.
Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 16, 2026 at First Christian Church, Monmouth. Interment will be at Warren County Memorial Park, Monmouth. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00pm, Thursday, October 15, 2026 at McGuire and Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. Memorials may be given to the First Christian Church of Monmouth or St. Jude Children’s Hospital and sent to the funeral home.
