Even as vaccine allotment is picking up for states, demand for COVID vaccination appointments is still outpacing supply.
Democrat Governor JB Pritzker says he wants more shots for everyone in Illinois but with more than 100,000 doses of the Johnson and Johnson, one and done shot, coming this week there are more and more opportunities for citizens to get an appointment.
“This is a challenging time. I think all of us are frustrated. There is a shortage of vaccines and so that makes it difficult to make and even offer appointments in many places. Let alone, to actually make an appointment for yourself. I think we are all frustrated, because we would all like to get vaccinated today if we could. Unfortunately there is just not enough vaccines for everybody.”
Pritzker says the state should have about 20 precent more vaccine to offer to residents by the end of the month.
Illinois is averaging about 84,000 shots a day. But keep in mind once a person receives a J&J shot – they don’t have to come back for a second one and that will help to speed the number of people who are fully vaccinated.
