Boley, Toberman Lead Track & Field Teams at Dutch Invitational

The Monmouth College track and field teams started their outdoor season in the 15-team field at the Dutch Invitational on Thursday. The event, hosted by Central College in Pella, Iowa, featured a mix of Division III, junior college and NAIA programs.

Women
Maddie Boley (Beecher, Illinois) was second overall in both the discus at 42.84m and the shot put at 13.47m. The shot put throw is the eighth-best in Monmouth history. Kayla Braun (Evansville, Illinois) was fifth in the discus at 38.00m and sixth in the shot put at 12.34m Boley also finished fifth in the hammer throw, first among D3 participants, with a career-best 47.29m. Gracie Gibbons was second among D3 throwers with a career-best 43.85m, good for seventh overall.

Maddie Rusk (Annawan, Illinois), was sixth overall, second among D3 participants in the long jump at 5.12m, an outdoor career high. Rusk was also eighth in the 100m and 10th in the 200m.

Miranda Hursey (Hanna City, Illinois) tied for second overall and tied for first among D3 competitors by clearing 3.25m in the pole vault. That performance is tied for seventh in school history and is a new career high outdoors for Hursey.

Men
Caleb Toberman (Clifton, Illinois) finished third in the hammer throw with the fourth-best throw in school history at 53.92m. He was first among all D3 throwers and also finished sixth overall in the discus and eighth in the shot put.

Gunner Bryant (Curryville, Missouri) took sixth in the javelin in his first career outdoor meet. His throw of 47.19m was third among D3 participants.

Da’Von Patterson (Ponte Vedra, Florida) was sixth in the 100m race at 11.29 seconds, finishing second among D3 participants.

The men’s 4x400m relay team of Adrian Outlaw (Galesburg, Illinois), Patrick Curry, Jr. (Chicago, Illinois), Xavier Camper (Grayslake, Illinois) and Patterson finished second behind Simpson with a time of 3:28.88.

The Scots head to Jacksonville, Illinois on Friday for the IC Classic hosted by Illinois College. The meet begins at 11 a.m.
