State Representative Dan Swanson (R-Alpha) is joining with Farmers State Bank of Western Illinois, local sheriffs and the Illinois Attorney General’s office to host a seminar on ‘How to Avoid Being Scammed.’ Representatives of the Illinois Attorney General’s office will be on hand to update residents on the latest scams going around and how to avoid being taken in by them and local sheriffs will also be in attendance and discuss scams they are seeing throughout their counties. The event is Tuesday August 20 from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. at the Oxford American Legion post, located at 211 W. A Street in Alpha.
