Monmouth-Roseville Looking to Secure 1st Round Home Game; United Hoping to Give Head Coach First Win

Week 8 of the high school football season is upon us. The penultimate week of the regular season contains hopeful scenarios and lock-down situations for many local schools. The Monmouth-Roseville Titans host their long-time rivals, the Rockridge Rockets, at Coach Dobry Field in Monmouth. The schools are no longer in the same division of the TRAC, but that certainly doesn’t mean the game doesn’t have meaning. Monmouth-Roseville has already clinched a playoff berth and an outright TRAC Mississippi Division title. The next goal on the list for the Titans is clinching a home game in the first round, something they’ve only done twice since the consolidation in 2005. The last time was the 2018 quarterfinal run, when the Titans hosted Wilmington at Coach Dobry Field, and in 2012 against Sterling Newman. Rockridge is coming in at (5-2), so they are playing for an automatic playoff berth themselves. To add to the intrigue, it’s also senior night for Monmouth-Roseville. With clinching a playoff berth in week six, this group of seniors is the first class at the school to qualify for the postseason for all four years of their playing careers. Head coach Jeremy Adolphson says that’s pretty impressive.

The game can be found on Sunny 97.7 WMOI, online at radiomonmouth.com or on our free 97.7 WMOI app for your smartphone or tablet. The pregame show will start at 6:35, with the kickoff at 7:00.

Our other game on the PCSN on Friday has the United Red Storm trying to give new head coach Andrew Goodwin his first win in his coaching career. The Red Storm host the (1-6) Havana Ducks at United High School. The Ducks are coming off a heart breaking 36-34 loss to Abingdon-Avon in week 7. It’s Night of Champions at United. The game will kickoff at 7:00, with the AM 1330/FM 95.7 WRAM pregame show starting at 6:35. The 2004 United state champion football team and the 2023 girls 4×200 meter relay state champions will be announced at halftime. Also during an extended halftime show will be the Red Storm Little Cheerleader performance.
