Jean M. (Hagerty) Utzinger, age 86, of Oquawka, Illinois, passed away at 4:14 p.m. Monday, December 30, 2024 at her daughter’s home in Clearwater, Florida.  She was born August 2, 1938 in Galva, Illinois, the daughter of Joseph and Hazel (Copeland) Hagerty.  On June 24, 1977, she married Arthur M. Utzinger in Galesburg, Illinois.  He preceded her in death on June 14, 2024. She was also preceded in death by brother Joseph (Theresa) Hagerty (March 28, 2016),  son Robert (Nancy) Furniss (December 29, 2019) and daughter Toni (Coon) Smith (May 31, 2024).

Jean was employed for several years as a payroll specialist for St. Mary’s Medical Center in Galesburg.  She retired at 50 years of age to pursue her dreams of full time trail riding and enjoying farm life. She attended St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Raritan.

Survivors include four daughters: Teana (Jack) Wall of Redding, California; Joyce Graffouliere and Tammy (Linda) Coon of Clearwater, Florida; Sandy (Kerry) Davis of Ely, Minnesota; two stepdaughters: Raedean Britt and Tracy Redfern Galesburg, Il; one brother: James (Mary) Hagerty of Roseville, Il, one sister: Joan (Jim) Whitney of Knoxville, IL, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Monmouth, followed by a Rosary at 11:30 a.m. and a Funeral Mass at Noon.  Burial will follow in St Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Keithsburg.  Friends and family are invited to return to the Banquet Room of Mama’s Place in Oquawka following the internment for a time of food and fellowship.  Memorials have been established for Immaculate Conception Scholarship Fund and St. Labre Indian School.
