Christopher W. Moore, 75, of Monmouth, IL, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at Seminary Manor, Galesburg, IL. 

He was born on October 27, 1949 in Monmouth, IL, the son of Glen and Marcella (Oaks) Moore.  Chris was raised and educated in Monmouth and graduated from Monmouth High School in 1967. 

Chris served in the Illinois National Guard for a time.   

He married Rebecca S. Case, his high school sweetheart, on October 30, 1971 in Monmouth, IL.  She preceded him in death on July 20, 2022.

Chris worked at Wilson Foods in Monmouth for 17 years.  In 1983, Chris and his wife, Becky, opened Country Keepsakes & Moore in Monmouth and operated that for 13 years.  Chris also helped at Carrier Tree Service in Monmouth.  Later he worked at Maytag in Galesburg and Case IH in Burlington until his retirement.  Chris was a car lover, he enjoyed working on cars, restoring them, and going to car shows.  He was proud of all of his cars, especially his most recent project, a 1932 Plymouth Sedan.  Chris liked watching sports, especially the Chicago Bears, Cubs, and Bulls. 

Surviving Chris are his children, Justin Moore of Galesburg, IL, Nichole (Dan) McQueen of Brunswick, GA; his grandchildren, Machaella Moore of Milwaukee, WI, Rebecca (Dylan Bazet) Barraza of Hawaii and Jason Barraza of Brunswick, GA; one sister, Glenda (Richard) Ryner of Monmouth, IL and brother-in-law, Jim Vaughn of Tennessee. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; one sister, Joyce “Susie” Vaughn; and two brothers, Roger and James Moore.    Following Chris’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.  A Celebration of Life will be at a later date.  McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
