Brenda Diane Lybarger, 71, of Frederick, CO, passed away on Thursday April 10th 2025 at UCHealth Longs Peak Hospital under Tru Community Hospice Care with family by her side in Longmont, CO.

She was born on January 21st, 1954 in Monmouth, IL, the daughter of John J. and Viola M. (Watt) Worthington. Brenda was raised on the family farm in Smithshire, Illinois and lived in the Warren County area of Illinois, specifically Roseville. She graduated from Roseville High School in 1972. She went on to pursue her true nursing passion in Geriatrics as the elderly held a special place in her heart and became an RN and moved into Administrative Nursing Care positions. She graduated from Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg, IL and passed the Colorado Board of Nursing in 1978.

Brenda married Daniel (Jim) G. Lybarger on June 3rd, 1972 in Roseville, IL. They celebrated 52 years of marriage and 4 years prior being together which shows their commitment and love for each other as high school sweethearts.

Brenda’s lifelong passion was being with family and friends. She created many wonderful memories and had many special experiences with each person she encountered. She was a fierce competitor while playing games with her family, strong, proud, intelligent, independent, silly, sarcastic, funny and a great woman. She enjoyed the chaotic energy of being with family but loved the quiet down time. She was a wonderful cook (often burnt) who was known for her homemade meatloaf, guacamole, and potato salad. The simple pleasures in enjoying her life included being an avid reader, doing word searches, glamping, gardening, being a grandmother (Oma), mother, and wife. She loved the close group of lifelong friends who she worked with and shared very meaningful memories with. Brenda was also a Breast Cancer Survivor which put in the perspective of the importance of enjoying the little moments of life with family.

Surviving Brenda are her husband Daniel (Jim) Lybarger, her daughters: Maranda Lybarger of Frederick, CO and Metta (Josh) Tracy of Estes Park, CO; her grandchildren Harper, Julius, and Maggie Tracy. Her siblings Michael (Ruth) Worthington, Carolyn Taflinger, Melinda Frakes, and Jauna (Richard) Becraft; sister in laws Susie Richert and Debbie Gardner; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents; brother David Worthington; brothers in law Rex Gardner, Curt Lybarger, Jack Gardner, and Clark Richert and other relatives.

A Celebration of Life for Brenda will be determined at a later time and date by family. In lieu of flowers, please donate to any Breast Cancer Research Projects or to Tru Community Hospice in Longmont, CO in her name.
