Aledo Rhubarb Festival Kicks Off 33rd Season

Share

The 33rd Aledo Rhubarb Festival is underway in downtown Aledo featuring all things rhubarb- from pie to soda, baked goods, and plants. Each year people from around the world travel to Aledo to experience the festival shares Denny Brown, a Festival Volunteer.

“Last year, the number of visits that we had was a little over 18,000 people. We always get people from out of state, the big draw, though, is from locally. And we’ve had people from overseas as well who have taken it in. A lot of people have never tried rhubarb if you’re in a hot climate, it’s something new.” says Brown. “This a daytime event that’s pretty much buttoned up by four or five o’clock on music and offerings, but we have a free tasting tent going on until they run out of goodies, which is usually by one o’clock. We have an Aledo Main Street that gives away goodie bags. The bags include some promotional materials, but they also include things like- this year we’re giving away 12,000 rhubarb seeds. “

The Aledo Rhubarb Festival is a free event taking place today and tomorrow. Find more information by visiting the festival’s website.
