The McDonough County 4-H Fair kicks off today at 8 am with events running until Wednesday, July 16. Beth Chatterton, McDonough County 4-H Program Coordinator, shares the list of events leading into Monday.

“”We are starting the fun on Saturday the 12th. We’re going to have our rabbit show early in the morning, at 8am and then we do our general show at 11 in the 4-H world. When you bring your general show projects, those are the ones that you think of, like cooking and sewing, woodwork, art, those projects, the members will bring their projects, and then they will talk with a judge who has expertise in that area. And they do conference judging, and the judges want to know, their process. You know, if something went wrong, how did you work with it? If you were to do it again, what would you do differently in different areas? Members, they get chosen to go on and represent McDonough County at the State Fair. We’re ending Saturday at 1pm with our poultry show, and then we are starting right back off on Sunday, on the 13th, we’re going to have our horse show at 10am that evening. All of our big livestock get checked into the fair. Monday is hit the ground running with our Junior Show showing big livestock.”
