Richard W. Crockett, 89, of Monmouth IL. passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2025 at his home.

Richard was born June 25, 1936 in Monmouth the son of William R. and Dorothy F. (Rhoades) Crockett.  He was raised and educated in Monmouth, graduating from Monmouth High School, Monmouth College with a BA in 1961,  University of Illinois with his MA in 1965 and later his PhD in Political Science from the University of Washington on august 23, 1974.

Richard served with the United States Army.

He married Marilyn Hansen in Monmouth in 1960.

Richard worked as an editor Scott Forsman Publishing in Chicago.   He was a professor of Political Science at Western Illinois University from 1974 until his retirement in 2003.   

He enjoyed music and keeping informed on the political issues of the day.

Survivors include his daughter, Pamela Jean Crockett; his son, Jeffrey Jon (Laurie Jeanne) Crockett of Jordanville, NY; 3 grandchildren, Victoria (Kevin) Burr of Ballston Spa, NY, James Crockett and Dorothy Crockett both of Jordanville; 3 great grandchildren, Clara Burr, Fiona Burr and Edith Burr.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation has been accorded.  No services are planned at this time. A private family interment at Monmouth Cemetery will take place at a later date.  McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
