Lois A. Crawford, 89 years, 7 months, it is with sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Lois A. Crawford at Stonebridge Senior Living in Osage Beach, MO on August 22, 2025.


She was born in Primghar, IA on December 17, 1935. She attended grades K-7 in nearby Gaza, IA and graduated from Primghar High School, Primghar, IA. She attended Iowa State Teachers College (now The University of Northern Iowa) in Cedar Falls, IA for 2 years and received an elementary teaching certificate.

Lois was married to Robert L. Crawford in 1956 and 1985.

She taught school near Iowa City, IA for two years before moving to Monmouth, Illinois. She taught at the Warren Achievement Center for several years. Lois next worked for Munson transportation in Monmouth and then returned to Iowa to work for Heartland Transportation in Coralville, IA. She retired from Heartland in 1997 and moved to Macomb, IL.

 
Her life in Macomb was full of joy in being able to pursue her many interests which included her pets, cooking, drawing, painting, knitting, crocheting and reading. She was able to enjoy time with family and friends while in Macomb. She loved children and had them coming to her door daily for “a treat from Miss Lois”.

In 2021, she moved to Seminary Estates, assisted living in Galesburg, IL. Her next and last move was to Stonebridge Senior Living in Osage Beach, MO where she lived out her last days.

She is survived by her two sons, Brian (Debbie Bruyn) Crawford of Lake Ozark, MO and Bruce (Karen Miles) Crawford of Savannah, GA, two granddaughters, Lauren (Tom) Tucker of Noblesville, IN and Jenna (Matt) Gallup of Oswego, IL, 2 step grandsons, Zach and Peyton Torres of Oklahoma City, OK and one step granddaughter, Allison Torres of Oklahoma City, OK, 5 great grandchildren and 7 step great grandchildren. Two nieces, Linda Wagenaar, Lee Ann Humenik and one nephew, Chuck Hughes. We will all miss our Granny Lois.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Lilla (Peterson) Johnson, her sister June (Johnson) Hughes and her brother, Lee A. (Bud) Johnson.As per her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.  A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025 from 2:00-4:00 pm at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. A graveside gathering will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Western Illinois Animal Rescue and sent to the funeral home.
