Mr. Thomas E. “Tom” Mummey, 74, of Galesburg, Illinois, died at 5:20 p.m. Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Allure of Lake Storey in Galesburg.

He was born on March 25, 1951, in Galesburg, the son of James C. and Ruth Pauline (Erwin) Mummey. He married Margie Shelton on July 19, 1969, in Galesburg.

Surviving are two daughters, Cassandra Grantham and Jamie Mummey Wrons, both of Cottonwood, Arizona; one sister, Brunda Mummey (Howard H.J. Hillier) of Galesburg; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Tom graduated from Galesburg High School in 1969. Throughout his working years, he was employed by Galesburg Handivan, Witteks, O’Reilly Auto Parts, and Harvey Brothers, all in Galesburg. He later retired from Jefferson Smurfit in Galesburg.

He was well known as a “handyman” and especially enjoyed working on cars. Tom was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, Bears, and Bulls.

As Tom requested, cremation will be accorded. There are no services scheduled at this time. Memorials may be made to the family. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services, Galesburg Chapel, is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be shared at www.h-p-w.com.
