Knox County 4-H Fair Goat Show

Share

On Monday, July 13th, Knox County held its 2026 4-H Market Goat Shows. Knox County 4-H had a great turnout, with many participants. There were 6 classes overall for the Goat Show, with great competition.

Dairy goats, yearlings 1 year and under 2 years, not in milk, were up first. Congratulations to Maggie Klein with Williams Field Town and Country for winning 1st place, which also makes her the Grand Champion for Dairy Goats.

To conclude the first 6 classes of the day, for the Goat Shows, Grand Champion Meat Doe goes to Madilyn Pruett, Doe 4 months and under, and Reserve Champion Meat Doe also goes to Madilyn Pruett. Madilyn will go on to represent Knox County at the Thowdown in the Market Doe class. To prepare, Pruett says she will continue to work with her animals.

“Pretty much keep working on that hair, keep working on my showmanship just to see how well I can keep her back straight,” says Pruett. “She likes to just rear sometimes, so try to just compete with other people and see how I can do.”

Results for the Market Goat Show

Next up was the Market Goat Show, where the final results concluded with Champion Wether going to Rhykerd Greer, and the Reserve Champion also going to Rhyker Greer. While reflecting on the show, Rhykerd Greer shares his experience transitioning into showing goats.

“This is my first year showing goats, so it’s been a lifetime goal to make the Throwdown, and we did it this year, so it’s been very exciting,” says Greer. “My first goat actually came from some friends that had a doe, and they had no one to show it. So, I ended up showing it. But you know, of course, goats have to have a friend. So, I went to their farm, picked out a goat, and ended up being the grand champion here today.”
