The United Red Storm held a 51-48 lead with just 2 seconds left in their LincolnLand cross-division game against Stark County. The visiting Rebels were 43 yards away from the goal line when Kaedan Steelman chucked a Hail Mary pass down the left sidelines. Stark County wide receiver Jeremiah Siebenthal caught the ball at the 10 yard line and dragged two Red Storm defenders into the end zone for a 54-51 victory.
United led 37-28 at the end of the 3rd quarter and 43-34 with 7:37 on a 60 yard touchdown run by quarterback Kellen Boone. Stark County mounted a comeback and would lead 48-43 with 31 seconds left in the fourth quarter after a 6-yard run by Steelman. Carter Olson took the ensuing kickoff back for a 70 yard touchdown to give what looked to be the final score of the game with 21.6 seconds remaining. Following a squib kick by United, the Rebels would start their final drive at their own 48 yards. A nine yard pass for Caleb Gentle took Stark County to the United 43 yard line. A double pass play was nearly intercepted on 2nd down and left 2.1 seconds on the clock. On 3rd down, Steelman was nearly sacked, getting rid of the ball just before his knee hit the ground for the winning score.
United (0-3) put up 432 yards of offense in the game, led by 131 yards and two touchdowns rushing by Boone. Boone also 214 yards passing with four more touchdowns. Stark County (3-0) totaled 532 of total offense, with 329 yards passing and five touchdowns. United will travel to Elmwood/Brimfield in week 4. Stark County will host Macomb next Friday.
