Community Action Poverty Simulation

Join ROE 26 & 33 for a Community Action Poverty Simulation event at the ROE 33 Building, 932 Harrison Street in Galesburg. This simulation will break down stereotypes by allowing participants to step into real life situations of others. Sign-in will take place from 8 to 8:30 am with the simulation from 8:30 to 11:30 am.

The Community Action Poverty Simulation (CAPS) breaks down stereotypes by allowing participants to step into the real-life situations of others. Poverty is often portrayed as a stand alone issue, but this simulation allows individuals to walk a month in the shoes of someone who is facing poverty and realize how complex and interconnected issues of poverty really are. After the experience, individuals then have the opportunity to discuss what they’ve learned with their peers.
