A fundraising dinner to benefit the Deputy Nick Weist Memorial Scholarship Fund will be held Saturday, February 18 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Tres Café at 1135 Lincoln Street in Galesburg. The event is sponsored by Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Spoon River Valley Lodge 427 and Tres Cafe.
The February 18 benefit will include a $10 chicken and noodle dinner with both eat-in and carryout service available. A silent auction and a 50-50 drawing will also be held. A portion of the proceeds will go toward the scholarship fund established for Knox County Sheriff’s Deputy Nick Weist, who was killed in the line of duty last year, and another portion of the funds raised will help the Illinois FOP Disaster Response Unit, which is used to assist police departments or individual officers that are experiencing emergencies.
