Fayhee Gets Double-Double as Sandburg Men Pull Away from Kougars

Five Chargers reached double figures as the Carl Sandburg College men’s basketball team ran away from Kishwaukee in the final 13 minutes to come back for an 88-63 Arrowhead Conference victory Thursday night at John M. Lewis Gymnasium.

KEY MOMENTS

  • Sandburg (15-6, 1-2) led 35-30 at the break, but the Kougars (5-13, 0-3) briefly went ahead at 43-42 on a 3-pointer from Emonte Collins. The Chargers answered right back with a trey from sophomore guard Scott Gowan (Rockford, Ill./Rockford East) to open a go-ahead 8-0 run.
  • Kishwaukee was still within 59-51 with 9:00 to play, but sophomore Noah Young (Colfax, Ill./Ridgeview) picked up a steal and went the length of the court for a three-point play, igniting an 11-0 Sandburg run.

SANDBURG STANDOUT

Sophomore Carter Fayhee (Macomb, Ill./Macomb) had a double-double with 11 points and 10 boards. It marked Fayhee’s second double-double of the season.

OTHER TOP CHARGERS

  • Freshman Jean Luc Wilson (East Moline, Ill./United Township) paced the Chargers with 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting and grabbed six rebounds. Wilson also handed out a team-best three assists.
  • Gowan hit three 3s and finished with 15 points.
  • Sophomore James Jones (Springfield, Ill./Lanphier) scored 13 and had five boards.
  • Freshman forward Cody Baer (Dunlap, Ill./Dunlap) had 10 points and seven rebounds.

FOR THE KOUGARS

  • Daelyn Franklin was the only Kishwaukee player in double figures, scoring 32 points and grabbing 10 rebounds while shooting 13 of 27 from the field. Franklin was 5 of 13 from distance.
