Cheryl “Jean”  Rodeffer, age 93, of Stronghurst, Illinois, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Maple Grove Memory Care Silver in Carthage, Illinois.  She was born March 16, 1929,  in LaHarpe, Illinois, the daughter of Lee and Annette Melvin Hensley.  On October 2, 1946, she married Kenneth “ Swede” Rodeffer.  He preceded her in death on October 15, 2001.

Jean was a wife, mother, and homemaker.  She also worked at Formfit in Monmouth, IL, the Lomax Canning Factory in Lomax, IL, and the A.S.C Office in Biggsville, IL.  She also figured income taxes for Fort & Fort Law Office in Stronghurst for twenty years.  She was a devout Christian and practiced her faith at the Stronghurst Christian Church.

Survivors include one son, Ted (Sally) Rodeffer of Carman, IL, numerous grandchildren, great grand children, and great great grandchildren, and one sister, Hazel (Wendell) Fox of Stronghurst.  Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Nancy Groves, one grandson, John Groves, three brothers, and five sisters.

A funeral service for Mrs. Rodeffer will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday, January 13, 2023 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst with Steve Minkler officiating.  Burial will follow in the Stronghurst Cemetery  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  A memorial fund has been established for the Stronghurst Christian Church.  Please visit Jean’s obituary at banksandbeals.com to sign the guest book and leave a condolence.
