Sandra Kay Herrin, 71, of Nixa, Missouri passed away at home on Thursday, January 5, 2023. Sandy was born on December 8, 1951, in Galesburg, Illinois. She married Pat Herrin on November 28, 1970, and recently celebrated 52 years of a happy marriage. Sandy is survived by her husband, Pat of Nixa, Mo., her son, Travis Herrin and daughter-in-law Cheryl Herrin of Orland Park, Illinois, Jennifer Birt of Trinity, Florida, brother Rick Cross and sister-in-law, Nita Cross Galesburg, 6 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild. She was proceeded in death by both of her parents, Virginia Diefendorf and Clair Cross.

Sandy was a 1970 graduate of Galesburg High School. Sandy retired in 2009 as the secretary for the Athletic Director at Legacy High school in Broomfield, Colorado. Sandy loved and supported her children, grandchildren, and her 1-year-old great-grandchild. She loved working with the high school students, and they loved her back. She was such a good person and always treated people with respect, which was molded into her from her mother, Ginny. Sandy was a phenomenal acrobatic cheerleader in high school and a talented dancer. Some of her favorite hobbies were country dancing, golf and crafts. Her favorite hobby was quilting which she spent most of her time doing.

Per her request, Sandy was cremated and there will be no memorial service. A celebration of life will be held and announced at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. Jude children’s Research Hospital.
