Chargers Guard Bentley Voted 2nd-Team All-Region IV District A

An outstanding freshman campaign has netted Carl Sandburg College women’s basketball player Elly Bentley a spot on the All-Region IV Division II District A Second Team.

Bentley, a 5-foot-3 point guard from Limestone, was voted to the team by district coaches after leading the Chargers in scoring, assists and steals during the regular season.

Bentley started all 30 regular season games for Sandburg and averaged 18.0 points per contest while shooting 40.4 percent (219 of 542) from the field. She also led the Chargers with a 74.2 percent (98 of 132) mark at the foul line, averaged 3.9 assists per game and picked up 1.4 steals per contest. Bentley closed the regular season Saturday at Lincoln Trail by recording her first collegiate double-double, putting up 28 points and a season-best 10 assists.
