Illinois House Passed Slew of Bills Last Friday

Share

House lawmakers continued to pass a slew of bills this week…Here are some highlights. Legislation allowing businesses and universities to make multi-occupancy bathrooms open to all genders narrowly made it through the house, and the soybean is on its way to becoming the official state bean. There’s also a bill requiring districts to provide full day kindergarten. It was supported by Representative Will Davis of Homewood.

“Full day kindergarten has to be the next integration of what we are doing to make sure our kids are prepared for the global society for what is to come in their lives.”

Another measure requires students in preschool through six grade to receive lessons in water safety. A bill outlawing pets riding in your lap while you drive failed miserably.
