According to Fox Towing Owner Nick Fox, drivers often overlook the quickest path to getting their vehicle back on the road:
“If you are broke down on the side of the road and you have roadside service, you think that is the best option, it is probably not. If you can afford the tow bill, call the local tow company, have your vehicle towed, get a ride, leave the keys in it because we have to be able to get the vehicle in neutral otherwise, we are dragging the vehicle up onto the rollback, that is not good on tires or transmissions. Then pay the tow bill and get reimbursed from your roadside assistance,” Fox explains.
“If you don’t have the money to pay the tow bill, call the 800 number, call your roadside, but you may be sitting there for two or three or five hours. It is a third-party company, so if you think you are calling your local insurance agent to get something towed or AAA, it goes through a third-party company. Don’t be afraid to reach out to a tow company and find out what the charge is to get you home right then and there,” adds Fox.
