Virginia Mae “Ginny” Davis, 81, of Abingdon, Illinois, died at 4:25 a.m. Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Allure of Lake Storey, Galesburg, Illinois.

Ginny was born December 15, 1941 in Trenton, Missouri, the daughter of Harold Henry and Hazel Virginia (Moss) Wensel. Ginny married Melvin Lee Davis on February 28, 1964. He preceded her in death on April 5, 2003.

Ginny is survived by one daughter, Tina (John Plunkett) Davis of Abingdon; four grandchildren, Mark (Amanda) Leadbetter, Joseph Leadbetter, Jessica (Roy) Coulter, and Scott (Devin) Bodenhamer; seven great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter. Ginny is also survived by one brother, Frank (Denise) Wensel of Galesburg; and one sister, Wilma Pacheco of Galesburg. Along with her parents and husband, Ginny was preceded in death by one daughter, Brenda Bodenhamer of February 25, 2018; and two brothers, Harold and Jack.

Ginny worked for many years at Admiral in Galesburg prior to retiring. She enjoyed fishing and relaxing while coloring adult color books. Ginny always said she was “born to boogie” and loved to dance.

Cremation has been accorded. No services are planned. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.watsonthomas.com.
