William E. Dawson (Bill) age 87, of Galesburg, Illinois died on May 18, 2023.

He was born September 13, 1935 in Appleton, IL, the son of Hubert E. Dawson and Ethel M. (Pennington) Dawson.

Bill is survived by his wife Karon; his children: Cindy (Dan) England, Florida, Jennifer (Rick) Hinrick, Julie Dawson, Sherri (Janice Crysel) Dawson, Julie (Greg) Bacon, Judy (Tom) Magee, Jodi Hanen; eleven grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren; two sisters: Deloris Hillery and Maxine Darst. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Marie Larson.

He owned Bill’s Shell Station in Knoxville, and was Transportation Supervisor for the Knoxville School District for 20 years, after retiring in 2000, he drove a school bus for sixteen more years. He loved to fish. Bill also like doing woodworking, dancing, but most of all, Bill loved being with his family and friends. He was an avid CUBS fan.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory in Knoxville. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at the Knoxville Cemetery, Knoxville. Memorials may be made to the Great Peoria Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
