Communications Director Ken Helms Reminds Monmouth Residents of Junk, Debris, and Mowing Ordinances in Place

As the warmer months of the year have arrived, City of Monmouth Communications Director Ken Helms reminds city residents of the ordinances in place for junk and debris and mowing:

“There is a city ordinance that your yard cannot go above 12 inches. If it does, there is legal means that we start going after at that point. The first stop after you receive a letter and a citation for it is the city crews will come over and mow the yard. I can tell you there are probably contractors in town that does yard mowing cheaper than if we have to send a crew there. Houses at different times throughout the year that may for instance have a couch sitting out in the front yard, just some kind of junk that needs to be removed, we have ordinances that prohibit junk and debris just sitting out there.”

Through the contract with Lake Shore Recycling, every third trash pickup each month, Monmouth residents are able to set out one bulk item to be collected.
