Michael Shawn Gillen, 57, of Cameron, IL, passed away on December 12, 2022 at his home.

He was born November 22, 1965 in Larchland, IL, the son of Billy and Iris Faye (Walters) Gillen.  Shawn was raised and educated in the rural Monmouth area and graduated from Warren High School in 1994. 

Shawn married Alisa Williamson on February 7, 1998 in Monmouth, IL; she survives. 

Shawn worked at KMART in Monmouth and Galesburg for several years.  He then went to Thorntons and worked as the Assistant Manager and later Manager.  Shawn later owned and operated A&S Vending until October of 2021.  He was currently employed with Help at Home, where he helped care for seniors.  He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, enjoyed going bowling, and watching TV.  Most of all, Shawn loved spending time with is family, especially his children. 

Surviving Shawn is his wife, Alisa Gillen of Cameron, IL; his children, Presslie (Jakob) Weiss of Vilseck, Germany, Grant Gillen of Cameron, IL; his siblings, Dusty (Curt) Tatum of East Over, NC, Sarah (Wes) Williamson of Chillicothe, IL, Bill “Casey” (Brandy) Gillen of Peoria, AZ; and sister-in-law, Melinda (Ray) McGrew of Hart, MI.  Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents. 

A celebration of life will be at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, June 24, 2023 at the New Life Baptist Church (1232 West Fremont St, Galesburg, IL 61401).  Visitation will be prior to the service from 11:00 am-12:30 p.m. at the church.  Interment will be in Monmouth Cemetery, Monmouth, IL.    Memorials can made to the Michael Shawn Gillen Memorial Fund for his children’s education and can be sent to the funeral home.  McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL, is in charge of the arrangements.
