New United Red Storm Boys Basketball Coach Jason Lancaster Wants to Keep the Program Moving Forward

United Red Storm boys basketball has a new man in charge of the program. Successful junior high boys basketball coach Jason Lancaster has taken over the day-to-day proceedings. He takes over for former head coach Doug Dennison, who was not rehired at the last United School Board meeting. Dennison left the program in great shape, turning around a program that won 2 games in his first season in 2016-2017 to a 20 win season in 2019-2020 and a (27-7) record and first regional title in the consolidation’s boys basketball history in the 2021-2022 season. Including a (14-2) mark in the covid-shortened season in 2020-2021, the Red Storm were (61-21) in that 3-year span. United slipped to (14-18) last season and Dennison was not rehired by a 6-1 vote by the school board. Part of the credit for the varsity basketball success has been the success of the junior high program led by Jason Lancaster. The past two seasons, the Red Storm 7th grade has won a regional title and the 8th grade has played in regional title game. Lancaster also coaches the Red Storm junior high baseball squad and has qualified for the IESA State Tournament the past two falls. He’s excited about keeping the program heading in the right direction.

Lancaster’s expectations for the future of the program are clear……keep winning basketball games and put in maximum effort.
