The West Central high school varsity softball team wrapped up another stellar season this past Friday with a loss in the class 1A Peru-St. Bede sectional championship game. The Heat fell to the host St. Bede Lady Bruins by a score of 3-1 to end their season just short of super-sectional action, and will bring their final record to 29-8 overall, and 15-5 in the Lincoln Trail Conference. It is the second straight year for the Heat where they have posted 28 or more wins. Speaking after the sectional championship game loss, 1st year Head Coach at West Central Dylan Voyles says he is proud of his team’s level of fight and energy, throughout the entirety of the 37 game season for the Heat.

West Central softball now shifts their focus to preparing over the summer as they try to return back to sectionals in the 2023-2024 school year. The Heat will try to accomplish that feat without 3 senior starters in Bailey Ryan, Bailie Ferguson, and Allie Strack.

Coach Voyles joined game broadcasters Shawn Temple and Scott Swiler on the postgame show. Here’s the postgame show in its entirety.
