Kermit C. Wainman, 89, of rural Galesburg, IL, passed at 6:25 am on July 25, 2023 at his home.

Kermit was born November 1, 1933 in Roseville, IL the son of Charlie and Marie (McMillan) Wainman.  He was raised and educated in Roseville, IL, graduating from Roseville High School in 1951.

Kermit married Bonnie Richey on November 9, 1952 at the Coldbrook Christian Church in Cameron, IL and she passed away on February 6, 2022.

Kermit farmed his entire life in the Coldbrook area.  He also worked at Butler Manufacturing beginning as a carpenter then welder and finally in the maintenance department before retiring in 1995 after 30 years.

He was a member of the Coldbrook Christian Church, Hend-Co Hills Country Club and the Maple City Antique Tractor Club.  He was avid Allis Chalmers collector, anything with Allis Chalmers on it he collected it.

Survivors include his children, Jean (Rick Hahn) Main and Jerry L. Wainman both of Galesburg, IL; 5 grandsons, Jeremy Randolph, Travis Randolph, Brandon Wainman, Kris Cokel and Tony Cokel; 1 granddaughter, Lesli Fox; several great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Margaret “Butchie” Wainman and son-in-law, Julius “Hoss” Cokel both of Monmouth, IL; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 2 children, Joie L. Cokel and John T. Wainman; his great grandson, Calvin Cokel; his sister, Ruth Horn and brother, Leland Wainman.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Monday, July 31, 2023 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL. Visitation will be from 3:00-5:00 pm Sunday, July 30, 2023 at the funeral home. Cremation will take place following the services with a private family interment at Warren County Memorial Park at a later date.
