Dennis H. “Goose” Gorsline, age 73 of Knoxville, Illinois passed at 11:20 am on Sunday, September 3, 2023 at the Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville, Illinois.

He was born on August 15, 1950 in Avon, Illinois the son of Harold and Erma (Seckman) Gorsline. He married Marcy Shenaut Lufkin on September 29, 2001 at the Presbyterian Church in Knoxville, Illinois.

Surviving is his wife, Marcy Gorsline of Knoxville, Illinois; three daughters: Nichole Gorsline of Des Moines, Iowa, Alyssa Gorsline of Galesburg, Illinois, and Artie Gorsline of Galesburg, Illinois; two step-sons: Lance Lufkin of Knoxville, Illinois and Taylor Lufkin of Knoxville, Illinois; four grandchildren: Christian Gorsline of Monmouth, Illinois, Jada Smith of Galesburg, Illinois, Kasen Morrison of Galesburg, Illinois and Ava Klapp of Galesburg, Illinois; two sisters: Chloe Jean Combs of Rockford, Illinois and Konnie (Harry) Bycroft of Roseville, Illinois; his beloved dog, Mo; nieces, nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and stepson, PFC Caleb Lufkin.

He attended and graduated from Abingdon High School in 1968. He was very proud of his High School days, All Star half back for the Commando’s Football Team and Homecoming King. He attended Carl Sandburg College with an Associate Degree in Business. He served in the United States Army for 18 years, retiring as Sgt. 1st Class. He was a member of the Harry Philblad American Legion Post #749 in Knoxville; Illinois and he participated in the Fallen Hero Motorcycle Ride for several years. He worked for the former Abingdon Pottery for twenty-four years until it closed, then worked for Hill Correctional Center in Galesburg, Illinois, where he was known as Mr.

G. He was an avid Cardinal Fan and loved to play golf.

Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, September 11, 2023 at the Knoxville Cemetery, Knoxville, Illinois, Rev. Tim Bycroft will officiate. Military rites will be conducted by the Abingdon American Legion. Memorials may be made to the Family.
