Mrs. Linda M. Kavanagh, 75, of Knoxville, Illinois passed away at 1:51 p.m. Sunday, September 17, 2023, at home.

She was born September 30, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois to James and Joesphine (Michi) Silingo. She married the love of her life, Michael S. Kavanagh, on January 25, 1969, in Bensenville, Illinois. After 50 years of marriage, he preceded her in death October 7, 2019.

Surviving is a daughter, Michelle (Sam) Fryer of Sharon, South Carolina, two sons, Michael (and Bree) Kavanagh of Knoxville, and Mark “Bubba” (Stacy) Kavanagh of Knoxville, her brother, James (Marie) Silingo of Cottage Grove, Oregon; her sister, Laurie (Grant) Nuss of Cleveland, Ohio; five grandchildren, Tiarra (fiance Andy Catoe) Fryer, Mike Jr. (fiancé Madison Squire), Lauren, Logan, and Ally Jo Kavanagh and two great grandchildren, Asher and Mason Catoe.

Linda graduated from West Leyden High School in 1965. She worked a variety of jobs including the Knoxville IGA Grocery Store, the Knoxville Hardware store, and United Facilities. Her main role in life was being a wife, mother and later grandmother. She enjoyed reading and hanging out with her grandchildren.

Linda was a faithful member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 pm Thursday, September 21, 2023, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Funeral Mass will be 1:00 pm Friday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Lee Brokaw officiating. The burial will be in Knoxville Cemetery. Memorials may be offered to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Association. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com
