Mr. John E. Showalter, 87, of Galesburg, Illinois died 8:50 a.m. Sunday, October 22, 2023, at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, Illinois. 

He was born November 25, 1935, in Galesburg to Clifford and Nora (Wall) Showalter.  He married Ellamae Deulen, December 5, 1954, in Galesburg.  He later married Christine Caldwell in November of 1974 in Longmont, Colorado.  He then married Debbie Derr on March 27, 1985, in Potomac, Illinois. 

Surviving are two sons, Steven Showalter of Maquon, Illinois and Terry (and Leanne) Showalter of Johnstown, Colorado, a daughter, Holly (and Kevin) Triplett of Grand Junction, Colorado, two brothers, David (and Chris) Armentrout and Mike Anderson, three sisters, Ellen Showalter, Ruthanne Reardon, and Leota Hensley, two grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, George Showalter and Roger Showalter, and two sisters, Becky Anderson, and Fran Bradley

John attended Galesburg High School.  He worked for Outboard Marine Corporation, Gale Products Division in Galesburg in his early years.  He and Ellamae later owned and operated the Grand Roller Rink in Galesburg.  After moving to Colorado, he was a Roofing Project Supervisor over 50 years and retired in October of 1995.  John loved roller skating and playing pool. 

There will be no funeral service.  A private burial will be Wednesday, October 25, 2023, in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com
