Local Schools Get Their Name Called on IHSA Football Selection Show

The Monmouth-Roseville Titans have their date and opponent for their first round game of the IHSA playoffs. On Friday, the Titans will head north near the Wisconsin border to Poplar Grove to take on the 7th seeded North Boone Vikings in Class 3A. After beating Sherrard this past Friday, the Titans clinched their 3rd straight trip to the playoffs, the longest streak in Monmouth-Roseville football history. Speaking on the WRAM Morning Show on Monday, ahead of their big matchup against North Boone, Titans Head Coach Jeremy Adolphson says the Vikings bring a certain style of play to the field that M-R has seen in their last two matchups with Orion and Sherrard.

Monmouth-Roseville’s road playoff matchup with North Boone will kick-off at 7:00 on Friday. You can hear all the action from that contest live on Sunny 97.7 WMOI, coverage will begin with the pregame show at 6:40. The Titans are looking to make their first trip since 2018 to the second round of the playoffs.

Other local schools have announced their day and times for their first round playoff games. In class 1A, a pair of Lincoln Land Small School Division teams will meet for the second time. The (5-4) Princeville Princes will travel to (9-0) Stark County on Friday night at 7:00. (7-2) ROWVA/Williamsfield will head to Sterling Newman to take on the also (7-2) Comets.

In class 2A, (7-2) Knoxville will also be on the road in (8-1) Momence (MOE-munse) on Saturday at Noon. Despite an (8-1) record, the Rockridge Rockets will somehow be on the road at (8-1) Westville at 2:00 on Saturday afternoon. (8-1) Farmington will be home on Saturday at 3:00 for a first round 2A match up against (7-2) Bismark-Henning-Rossville-Alvin. (6-3) Mercer County will travel to (8-1) Wilmington at 4:00 on Saturday.

In class 4A, (8-1) Kewanee is at home on Friday night against (5-4) Peoria Notre Dame.

In the 8-man football playoffs, (7-2) Ridgewood will be on the road on Friday night at 7:00 at (7-2) South Fork. The (6-3) West Prairie/Southeastern co-op will play at perennial power (7-2) Polo. On Saturday, (4-5) Bushnell-Prairie City hits the road at undefeated Champaign St. Thomas More at 2:00.
