The masonry upgrades at the Warren County Courthouse’s east and south sides is nearing completion, shares Buildings and Grounds Chair Sean Cavanaugh:
“We were able to use COVID funds to do improvements on the masonry on the east and south side. They were by far the two sides of the building that needed the most work. They had to hammer every square inch of every stone to remove any stone that was peeling off. It is called spalling, it is a natural thing. Then they put in new mortar between all of the stone and they are in the process of putting a sealant over the stones to help protect it from the weather. They will be working on putting the stairs back together on the south side. We need that as an emergency exit and we are waiting on some new stone for replacement. So, it is winding up.”
The masonry work at the Warren County Courthouse is being completed by AtCo Masonry LLC.
