Prior to this month’s Monmouth-Roseville Board of Education meeting, a public hearing was held to present the tentative budget and appropriation ordinance for the district, reports Superintendent Ed Fletcher:
“We have a balanced budget. Our operating funds are broken into four different funds; educational fund, operations and maintenance, transportation, and working cash. We have a balanced budget in those. The two funds that I always get worried about are operations and maintenance and then transportation. As a whole, our operation funds are balanced. Those two accounts are in deficit spending. Basically, the amount of money we bring in from the levy in each of those funds and transportation reimbursement from the state does not come anywhere close to covering our costs. They have been in deficit for years and things keep getting more expensive, gas is more expensive. All in all, I feel really good about the budget.”
The next Board of Education meeting for the Monmouth-Roseville School District is scheduled for Tuesday, October 13th at 6 pm.
