Julia Kay “Jules” Hanson, 71, of Oneida passed away suddenly on Friday, November 24, 2023.

Julie was born on July 17, 1952 in Galesburg. She was the daughter of Donald and Joyce (Carlson) Krans. She married Chuck Hanson on September 27, 1975, at the La Fayette United Methodist Church. Together, they celebrated 48 years of marriage. Surviving is her husband, Chuck of Oneida; her children, Emily (Adam) McMaster of Oneida, and Chuck (Samantha) Hanson of DeLeon Springs, FL; her six grandchildren, Adelle and Abel McMaster; Karissa, Finn, Coral, and Knox Hanson. Also surviving are her siblings, Kathleen Krans (Gregg Lenaghan) of Springfield and David (Terry) Krans of Lafayette; In-laws the late Bill (Sue) Hanson and Shelley (Dick) Nelson. Nieces and nephews include, Lori (Tim) Self, Stephanie (Vince) Coulter, David Krans, Trisha Hanson, Shane Hanson, Eric Stottler, and Sumer Stottler. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved yellow lab De Le Anne.

Julie graduated in 1970 from the last graduating class of Lafayette High School. She loved to joke that she was in the top 10 of her class before following up with the fact there were only 9. She attended Black Hawk Community College. Julie then went on to work at Gale Products until their closing. After Gale Products, she worked for Admiral for many years. She retired from Brodie Meat Products where she made many friends and special birthday cakes. Chuck and Julie were charter members of Little John Conservation Club. They were also members of Hook and Bullet for many years. She loved catfishing, mushroom hunting, and camping. Some of her hobbies included, macramé, going to auctions, cross stitching, and watching her hummingbirds. Julie also had a love of gardening, which came naturally from her father. Her gardening led her into being an expert canner famous for her dill pickles and salsa. She was a selfless person always giving to everyone.
