Kimberly J. (Brewer) Carlson, 42, of Rockford, IL, passed away at 6:08 p.m., Friday, November 3, 2023 at Forest City Rehab and Nursing Center, Rockford, IL.
She was born on August 28, 1981 in Monmouth, IL, the daughter of Roger and Defrance “De” (Shawgo) Brewer. Kim was raised and educated in Monmouth and graduated from Monmouth High School in 2000.
Kim was married to Chad Carlson, they later divorced.
Kim babysat for many years. she also delivered papers for the Penny Saver. Kim worked as several area restaurants, including Subway and Pizza Hut. She then worked at Chedder’s in Davenport and the Genesis Health Clinic. She most recently worked at Well’s Pet Food in Monmouth. Kim enjoyed playing the clarinet and running track. She lived life to the fullest every day. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her family, friends, and her cats. Kim was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Kim is her mother, Defrance “De” Brewer of Monmouth, IL; her brother, Justin Brewer of Rockford, IL; her maternal grandma, Edna Shawgo, Galesburg, IL; her aunt, Jo (Ed) Bjorling of Oneida, IL; her cousins, Melissa (Aaron) Struble, Sarah (Joe) Glessner, Corey Bjorling, and Mike Brewer.
She was preceded in death by her father, Roger Brewer; maternal grandfather, David Shawgo; paternal grandmother, Mary Irene Brewer Miller; paternal grandfather, Lonnie Brewer; and uncles, Wayne Brewer and Dwayne Brewer.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 11, 2023 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL. Interment will be in Monmouth Cemetery, Monmouth, IL. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to help assist the family with funeral expenses and can be sent to the funeral home.
