Ruth Ann Vaglica, 66, of Galesburg, died at 7:57 p.m. Wednesday, November 29, 2023, in Marigold Health Care Center, following a brave battle with cancer.

She was born November 8, 1957, in Galesburg, the daughter of Henry Lee and Beverly Ann (Hale) Colwell.

She is survived by a son, Aaron Vaglica; two brothers, James Colwell and John (Sandra) Colwell, both of Galesburg; a sister, Jeanette Colwell of Galesburg; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Robert Colwell.

Ruth was raised and educated in Galesburg, where she was a graduate of Galesburg High School. She had worked in the housekeeping department at Heartland Health Care Center. Ruth was active in the Salvation Army in her younger years. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing cards, cross stitch, and crocheting.

Visitation will be 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens with Deacon Michael Crummer officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
