Renda J. Sharp, 65, known for her compassionate heart and loving spirit, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2023, in her hometown of Galesburg, Illinois. Born on April 5, 1958, to the late Eugene R. and Ruby Myrtle Jane (Wade) Gibbons,

Renda’s life was marked by her commitment to her family and her work. For many years, she was a diligent employee at Knox Laundry before transitioning to a role at Target, and eventually completing her career after 13 years of service at Farmland.

Renda is survived by her cherished daughters, Kyra (the late Doug) Mahnesmith and Tanya (Eric Mackey) Sharp both of Galesburg; her siblings, Dickie (Debbie) Gibbons of Knoxville, Tommy (Tammy) Gibbons of Abingdon, and Vickie Lester of Galesburg; as well as her adored grandchildren, Paige Mahnesmith, Logan Mahnesmith, Tyson Simpson, Braxton Simpson, and Izabel Mackey, and great-grandchildren, Eldon and Avery. She joins in eternal rest her father, her mother and stepfather Ruby and Terry Clark, her brother Ricky Gibbons, and her granddaughter Emmi Sharp.

Renda cherished quality time with her grandchildren and her beloved dog, ZueZue. An avid shopper, she enjoyed the thrill of finding deals on QVC and the excitement of bingo nights. Television shows such as the Hallmark Channel, Hell’s Kitchen, Big Brother, and The Amazing Race brought her entertainment, while her love for travel created unforgettable memories with her family. Engrossed in playing Candy Crush on her phone and famously loving Cheez-Its, her essence was one of a person who was always concerned about others before herself.

Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Funeral services will follow at 2:30 p.m. Chaplain Jordan Knight will officiate. Private burial will be at East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg.
