Scott Douglas Carlson, 57, of Galesburg, died unexpectedly on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at home.

He was born June 30, 1966, in Peoria, the son of Floyd R. and Charlotte L. (Carlstrom) Carlson. He married Teresa J. Ridgeway on November 5, 1985, in Galesburg.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Teresa; three children, Scott-Allen R. Carlson of Galesburg, Amanda L. (Justin) Linnabery of Moline, and Benjamin R. Carlson of Galesburg; two grandchildren, Elena Rose Linnabery and Jason Howard Linnabery; a brother, Jason T. (Julie McCone) Carlson of Galesburg; and several cousins.

After graduating from Galesburg High School in 1984, he later enlisted in the United States Navy. He served for nearly 11 years before he was honorably discharged. Scott was a certified sleep technician and had worked at OSF St. Mary Medical Center and Proctor Hospital. He had also worked at The Junction gas station and Big Lots.

In his spare time, Scott enjoyed playing darts, shooting pool, singing karaoke, and playing video games.

Cremation will be accorded. To celebrate his life, there will be a memorial visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services of Galesburg. Military honors will be offered at 1 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Online condolences and memories may be shared on the funeral home’s website at www.h-p-w.com.
