Toberman, Boley Sweep Throwing Events at Grinnell Invitational

The Monmouth College track and field teams picked up four individual wins in Saturday’s Grinnell Indoor Invitational in Iowa. Throwers Maddie Boley (Beecher, Illinois) and Caleb Toberman (Clifton, Illinois) swept their events, grabbing two wins each.

Women
For the second week in a row, Boley won the shot put and the weight throw. She threw a season-best 15.70m in the weight with Jillian Toth (El Paso, Illinois) in second place at 14.29m and Gracie Gibbons (Altona, Illinois) in fifth at 13.19m. Boley won the shot put with a throw of 12.09m and Gibbons took fourth at 11.69m with freshman Alayna Earle (Clinton, Illinois) in fifth at 11.59m.

Miranda Hursey (Hanna City, Illinois) took second in the pole vault with a season-best 3.15m. Delaney Rexroat (Monmouth, Illinois) was third with a personal-best 2.85m and Megan Dailey (Pendleton, Indiana) was fifth at 2.70m.

Danielle Johnson (Annawan, Illinois) was third in the triple jump at 9.71m with Chloe Allen (Monmouth, Illinois) in fifth at 8.92m. Lauren Anderson (Cambridge, Illinois) was fourth in the high jump at 1.38m.

Monmouth’s 4×200 relay team of Ally Celus (Annawan, Illinois), Makaiha Moore-Bell (Knoxville, Illinois), Soloria Jackson (Rockford, Illinois) and Tayler Raska (Galesburg, Illinois) took second in a time of 1:51.36. Jackson was fifth in the hurdles with a time of 10.43 seconds.

Men
Toberman won the weight throw with a career-best 18.77m, the fourth-best throw in school history. Shane Anderson (Lisle, Illinois) was second at 17.52m and Blake Orwig (Wyoming, Illinois) was fifth at 15.60m. Toberman also won the shot put with a season-best 14.97m. Anderson was second at 14.34m and Orwig was third at 13.67m.

Tashawn Ruffin (Bloomington, Illinois) was fourth in the triple jump with a career-best 13.38m.
Eli Newton (Dallas City, Illinois) was fifth in the 3000m run with a time of 9:18.23. Patrick Curry, Jr. (Chicago, Illinois) was fifth in the high jump with a career-best 1.88m.

The top Monmouth 4×200 relay team of Da’Von Patterson (Ponte Vedra, Florida), Curry, Riley Bernas (Aurora, Illinois) and Xavier Camper (Grayslake, Illinois) was second in 1:33.61. The 4x400m relay team of Curry, Camper, Patterson and Newton took third with a time of 3:32.23.

The Scots will be at the Keck Select hosted by Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday, Feb. 3. The multi-team meet begins at 10:45 a.m.
