David E. Spoerl, age 70, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at 3:51 pm on Wednesday February 7, 2024 at Royal Oaks Nursing Home in Kewanee, Illinois. David was born on October 11, 1953 in Moline, Illinois and is the son of Edgar O. and Charlotte P. Krieg Spoerl. He was raised in Moline where he received his Special Education and care. David married Eileen E. Ausmus on August 27, 2002 in Monmouth, Illinois. She preceded him in her death on December 19, 2016. David, since he has been in Monmouth, was employed in the Warren Achievement Workshop for a number of years and has enjoyed being a part of and running in the local Special Olympics. He and his wife are members of Faith United Presbyterian Church in Monmouth where he has been active in many of the church’s affairs and an active member with the congregation. David enjoyed riding his bike and going skating at the roller rink. 

David is survived by his sisters, Alice Bently of Dubuque, Iowa and Gloria Gerdts and Alan of Tucson, Arizona, and his brother, Daniel Spoerl of East Moline, Illinois. He is preceded in his death by his parents, and two brothers, Howard and Joseph. 

As were his wishes David will be cremated and his ashes will be interred in Monmouth Cemetery next to his wife, Eileen. A celebration of David’s life is currently being planned and will be at a later date.
